Tropical cyclone, an intense circular storm that originates over warm tropical oceans and is characterized by low atmospheric pressure, high winds, and heavy rain. Also called typhoons and hurricanes, cyclones strike regions as far apart as the Gulf Coast of North America, northwestern Australia, and eastern India.

Tropical Cyclone Fina – Weather Update Issued Sunday 23 November 2025 Severe Tropical Cyclone Fina (Category 3) is now located to the west of Darwin and is gradually moving away from the coast. The system remains small but highly intense, with the core now over open waters of the southern Timor Sea. Current Position and Movement At 3.30 am ACST, Fina was located near 12.3°S 130.1°E, around 80 km west of Darwin and 85 km southwest of Wurrumiyanga. The cyclone is tracking west-southwest at around
